UFC 214 takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on July 29. No fights have been formally announced, but UFC President Dana White recently said that Jon Jones could challenge Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight title at the event.
Justino has fought twice in the Octagon, defeating Leslie Smith and Lina Lansberg in 140-pound catch-weight bouts. “Cyborg” was facing a one-year suspension from USADA after testing positive for the diuretic spironolactone in an out-of-competition sample collected on Dec. 5, but ultimately Justino was cleared and given a retroactive therapeutic use exemption.
Meanwhile, de Randamie captured the inaugural women’s featherweight crown with a unanimous decision triumph over Holly Holm at UFC 208. After the victory, de Randamie said she needed to recover from an injured hand before he could defend the title. It is currently unclear if “The Iron Lady” would be ready by July 29. Meanwhile, MMAFighting.com has reported that while Justino has two fights remaining on her existing UFC deal, that contract expires in October regardless of whether those bouts have been fulfilled.
