Three bouts are now official for Strikeforce Challengers 19, the promotion has announced. Headlined by a light heavyweight confrontation between Virgil Zwicker and Lorenz Larkin, the event goes down Sept. 23 from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Joining the Zwicker-Larkin main event on the card will be a heavyweight confrontation pitting Lavar Johnson against Shawn Jordan. Additionally, lightweight submission specialist Ryan Couture now has an opponent for the show, as the son of “The Natural” will square off with Maka Watson in his fourth professional outing. Welterweights Brian Melancon and Felipe Portela are also rumored to collide at the event, though officials have yet to make the contest official.

Zwicker’s first Strikeforce appearance came against the aforementioned Johnson in October. “Rezdog” was battered in that fight by his larger foe, falling by knockout. The defeat marked the first time Zwicker had been stopped since beginning his career in 2003. The Team Quest export returned to the cage in April, earning a technical knockout over Brett Albee at Strikeforce “Diaz vs. Daley.”

A kung fu practitioner, Larkin has shown excellent though unorthodox striking skills through his 11-fight professional career. The undefeated light heavyweight has gone a perfect 2-0 in the Strikeforce cage, debuting with the promotion in April with a technical knockout over Scott Lighty. Most recently, “The Monsoon” outpointed fellow prospect Gian Villante on June 24, outstriking the former heavyweight en route to a unanimous decision victory.
