Colby Covington Taunts Fabricio Werdum on Social Media After UFC Fight Night London Loss

Colby Covington didn’t address Fabricio Werdum directly, but he didn’t need to. The target of his mockery was abundantly clear.

After Werdum suffered a fourth-round knockout loss to Alexander Volkov at UFC Fight Night 127, Covington posted the following GIF on Twitter with the hashtag #UFCLondon:

Of course, Covington and Werdum have a history dating back to UFC Fight Night 121, which took place in Sydney, Australia this past November. Outside the fighter hotel, Covington and Werdum got into an ugly verbal altercation in which Covington used a homophobic slur and insulted the Brazilian people. Meanwhile, Werdum was caught on camera throwing a boomerang at the UFC welterweight.

Covington later pressed charges, also alleging that Werdum punched him while he was looking at his phone in the lobby of the UFC host hotel. Ultimately, Werdum was fined $600 and charged with common assault.

Covington initially drew the ire of the Brazilian people after he defeated Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 119 when he called the country’s residents “filthy animals.” The 30-year-old American Top Team product has not fought since that Oct. 28 victory over Maia.
