Cody Garbrandt vs. Takeya Mizugaki Officially Set for UFC 202 in Las Vegas

A bantamweight clash between Cody Garbrandt and Takeya Mizugaki has been added to the UFC 202 lineup.

The promotion revealed the pairing on Thursday. UFC 202 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Aug. 20 and is headlined by a rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor. In the co-main event, Anthony Johnson will lock horns with Glover Teixeira in a pivotal light heavyweight clash.

Garbrandt, 24, is unbeaten in nine professional outings with all but one of those triumphs coming by way of knockout or technical knockout. The Team Alpha Male product earned the most significant victory of his career to date at UFC Fight Night 88 in Las Vegas, where he knocked out fellow prospect Thomas Almeida 2:53 into the opening stanza.

A 12-time Octagon veteran, Mizugaki halted a two-fight skid in his last outing, as he outpointed George Roop at UFC Fight Night 75 “Barnett vs. Nelson” in Japan this past September. The Japanese bantamweight is 8-4 overall during his tenure with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
