Claudia Gadelha-Karolina Kowalkiewicz Bout Official For UFC 212 on June 3 in Rio de Janeiro

If Claudia Gadelha or Karolina Kowalkiewicz want another shot at Ultimate Fighting Championship gold, they'll have to go through one another.

Monday, the UFC officially announced the women's strawweight pairing via Twitter. The bout will take place at UFC 212 on June 3 at Jeunesse Arena, formerly the HSBC Arena, in Rio de Janeiro. UFC 212 will be headlined by a UFC featherweight title unification bout between champion Jose Aldo and interim titlist Max Holloway (latest odds).

Gadelha, widely considered the second-best 115-pound woman in the sport behind champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, has put together a 3-2 mark in the Octagon, but has fallen twice to the UFC champion now. The 28-year-old Brazilian lost a close split decision to “Joanna Champion” in December 2014, then was outlasted over five rounds by her rival in their “Ultimate Fighter 23” conclusion last July. Gadelha returned to action last November at the UFC Fight Night in Sao Paulo, earning a unanimous decision over Cortney Casey.

The 31-year-old Kowalkiewicz was submitted by Jedrzejczyk was an amateur in March 2012, then ran up a 10-0 pro record, including three straight wins to start her UFC career. At UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden in New York last November, Kowalkiewicz was soundly defeated again by her Polish countrywoman again, this time as a pro, dropping a unanimous decision.
