Chris Weidman will defend his middleweight crown against Luke Rockhold in the UFC 194 co-headliner.
The bout was announced Thursday evening on ESPN’s SportsCenter. UFC 194 takes place on Dec. 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a featherweight title unification bout between reigning kingpin Jose Aldo and interim titlist Conor McGregor.
Weidman is unbeaten in 13 professional bouts, including nine in the UFC. The Serra-Longo Fight Team member captured middleweight gold with a knockout victory over Anderson Silva at UFC 162 and has since defended the belt three times, besting Silva, Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort.
Rockhold has lost just once in his last 14 outings, a first-round knockout against Belfort at UFC on FX 8. Since then the American Kickboxing Academy product has won four straight, including a second-round submission of Lyoto Machida in his most recent appearance at UFC on Fox 15.
