Alex Caceres will make the drop to bantamweight for his next UFC appearance, as the promotion announced Wednesday that “Bruce Leroy” will lock horns with Cole Escovedo at UFC on Fox 1.
Headlined by a heavyweight title confrontation between reigning champion Cain Velasquez and heavy-handed challenger Junior dos Santos, UFC on Fox 1 goes down Nov. 12 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

Caceres was first introduced to UFC fans as a cast member on “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 12. Competing as a lightweight on Georges St. Pierre's team, the 23-year-old was defeated by eventual finalist Michael Johnson in the round of eight.
Making his official UFC debut as a featherweight following his stint on the show, Caceres fell quickly to Mackens Semerzier in March at Fight Night 24, submitting to a rear-naked choke in just 3:12. Caceres would fare slightly better in his next outing against Jim Hettes, making it to the second round before submitting to the same hold.
Escovedo also enters the Octagon coming off back-to-back defeats, as the “Apache Kid” was knocked out just under two weeks ago by Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 135.
Prior to that defeat, the 30-year-old was outpointed in his UFC debut by Renan “Barao” in May. A 10-year veteran of the sport, Escovedo owns 16 of his 17 career victories by either knockout or submission.
