Welterweight Brian Foster has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 129 bout with Sean Pierson due to a brain hemorrhage.

The fighter announced news of his condition on Tuesday via Twitter. According to the fighter, his pre-fight MRI scan revealed the hemorrhage. The UFC has yet to release an official statement on Foster’s withdrawal, and it is currently unknown whether the promotion is searching for a replacement.

UFC 129 will emanate from the Rogers Centre in Toronto and will be headlined by a welterweight title clash between dominant champion George St. Pierre and former Strikeforce titleholder Jake Shields. The April 30 event, which also features a featherweight title bout between Jose Aldo and Mark Hominick, will air live on pay-per-view.

Representing Finney’s H.I.T. Squad in Granite City, Ill., Foster has won back-to-back contests inside the Octagon. Following a February 2010 loss to Chris Lytle, the powerful wrestler rebounded with a September knockout of Forrest Petz and a November submission of Matt Brown. The 27-year-old holds nine of his 15 career victories by knockout and has only suffered one KO defeat in nearly five years as a professional.
