UFC officials Friday announced the addition of two new featherweight contests to the UFC 142 fight bill, as Yuri Alcantara meets Michihiro Omigawa and Felipe Arantes meets Antonio Carvalho.

Though Sherdog.com first reported the Arantes-Carvalho matchup last week, the Omigawa-Alcantara clash marks a new development for the UFC's return to Rio de Janeiro. Slated to go down Jan. 14 from HSBC Arena, UFC 142 will be headlined by a 145-pound title fight between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes.

A winner of 12 straight fights, Alcantara fought eight times in 2010. After winning the Jungle Fight lightweight title 14 months ago, the Brazilian made his World Extreme Cagefighting debut just less than one year ago, knocking out Ricardo Lamas at WEC 53. Dropping to featherweight for the first time, “Marajo” found success in his UFC debut as well, outpointing Felipe Arantes at UFC 134 in August.

Omigawa, 35, recently found his first UFC win, outpointing Jason Young at UFC 138 on Nov. 5. Prior to besting the British striker, the judo specialist had dropped a pair of decisions since returning to the UFC, falling to Chad Mendes and, controversially, Darren Elkins. Also a veteran of Dreamm and Sengoku competition, Omigawa holds notable victories over Hatsu Hioki, L.C. Davis, Marlon Sandro and Hiroyuki Takaya.
