A rumored showdown between Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson is one step closer to becoming reality, as bout agreements have been distributed to the involved parties.

Sherdog.com confirmed the news with a source close to the situation on Friday following an initial report from MMAWeekly.com.

However, although the contracts have been handed out, the fight is not yet a done deal. Sherdog.com has learned from a source that there are still a few sticking points in the agreement that will need to be worked out before the contracts can be signed.

The bout is being targeted as the headlining attraction of Strikeforce's first event in Chicago, scheduled to go down July 30. The event has yet to be officially announced by the promotion, but the fight is rumored to go down as a 220-pound catch-weight affair.

Strikeforce's reigning light heavyweight champion, Henderson has won five of his last six fights. The 40-year-old rides a two-fight winning streak heading into the possible showdown with Emelianenko. Following a one-sided knockout victory over Renato Sobral in December, Henderson captured the 205-pound title by dropping Rafael Cavalcante with one of his trademark overhand rights in March.

Once regarded by many as the world's top heavyweight, Emelianenko recently suffered back-to-back losses for the first time in his career. The former Pride Fighting Championships titleholder was first submitted by Fabricio Werdum in June before losing by TKO to Antonio Silva in the quarterfinals of Strikeforce's eight-man heavyweight grand prix in February.
