Ben Askren will defend his welterweight strap in a rematch against Luis Santos when One Championship returns to Singapore on Nov. 13.

Promotion officials confirmed the matchup to the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday. No other bouts have been announced for the event, which takes place at Singapore Indoor Stadium and is entitled “Pride of Lions.”

The first meeting between Askren and Santos was cut short just 2:19 into the opening frame at One Championship 26 when an Askren eye poke rendered his foe unable to continue and resulted in the championship bout being ruled a no-contest. Santos was competitive for as long as it lasted, as he largely stifled the takedowns of the four-time NCAA All-American wrestler before the foul.

Unbeaten in 15 professional outings, Askren is still regarded as one of the world’s top welterweights outside the UFC. Prior to facing Santos, the former Bellator 170-pound titlist stopped both of his first two One Championship foes – Bakhtiyar Abbasov and Nobutatsu Suzuki – inside of a round.

The 35-year-old Santos is a well-traveled veteran of the sport, having compiled a 61-9-1 career mark since his debut in 2000. The Brazilian has won seven of his last eight fights, with the no contest against Askren the only blemish on his ledger during that time.
