Ben Askren, Eduard Folayang to Defend Titles at One Championship Event on April 21

Ben Askren and Eduard Folayang will put their titles on the line at One Championship’s April 21 event in Manila.

One Championship founder and chairman Chatri Sityodong revealed the news to ABS-CBN Sports on Wednesday. Opponents for both Askren and Folayang will be announced at a later date. The event will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Askren, the promotion’s welterweight champion, is unbeaten in 16 professional outings. Most recently, the 32-year-old wrestler earned a unanimous decision triumph over Nikolay Aleksakhin at One Championship 41 “Global Rivals” on April 15. The ex-Bellator titlist owns notable wins over the likes of Andrey Koreshkov, Douglas Lima, Jay Hieron and Lyman Good.

Folayang, meanwhile, upset Shinya Aoki via third-round technical knockout at One Championship “Defending Honor” on Nov. 11 to claim lightweight gold. The 33-year-old Filipino star has won five of his last six under the One Championship banner and is 17-5 as a professional overall.
