Bellator Takes Season 9 Featherweight Tournament to Temecula, Calif., on Sept. 13

Bellator MMA’s Season 9 featherweight tournament will kick off at Bellator 99 on Sept. 13 at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif.

Bellator officials announced the destination on Monday, although no bouts for the eight-man, 145-pound bracket have been revealed. The promotion last ventured to Temecula on March 7 for Bellator 92. The event’s main card will be broadcast on Spike TV, while preliminary bouts air on Spike.com.

“We had an absolutely packed house in March when we brought Bellator MMA live on Spike to Pechanga,” Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney stated in a release. “We wanted to get back to California’s greatest casino/resort as soon as possible. Pechanga offers our fans the chance to see the some of the greatest MMA talent in the world and be on hand to witness the toughest tournament in sports. Sept. 13 is going to be fireworks.”

Bellator’s ninth season launches Sept. 7 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and features a middleweight title showdown between Alexander Shlemenko and Doug Marshall.
