Bellator 88 Weigh-in Results: Shlemenko, Falcao Cleared for Middleweight Title Bout




Bellator will crown a new middleweight champion Thursday night, as both Alexander Shlemenko and Maiquel Jose Falcao Goncalves were cleared to compete at Wednesday’s Bellator 88 weigh-ins.

Both Shlemenko and Falcao (Pictured, file photo) tipped the scales at 184.8 pounds. The men will square off in the evening’s main event from The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga., competing for the middleweight title vacated last year by current UFC talent Hector Lombard.

The show’s main card airs live on Spike TV and will also showcase the Season 8 featherweight tournament quarterfinals, highlighted by former Sengoku champion Marlon Sandro (145.6) taking on Akop Stepanyan (145.8). Hard-hitting American Mike Richman (145) and Alexandre Bezerra (145.6) will also see action during the evening’s televised card, as they face Mitch Jackson (145.2) and Genair da Silva (145.6), respectively.

The show’s preliminary card streams live on Spike.com, including the fourth featherweight quarterfinal pitting combat sambo champion Magomedrasul Khasbulaev (145.6) against Fabricio de Assis Costa da Silva (145.6).
