Bellator 36 Results & Live Play-by-Play

Sherdog.com will report from the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, La. at approximately 8:00 p.m. ET with play-by-play and live results of Bellator 36. In the main event, former WEC lightweight champion "Razor" Rob McCullough will take on Patricky "Pitbull" Freire.

Javone Duhon vs. Booker Arthur
Round 1
The two exchange to start the bout. Arthur lands a low kick, but Duhon swarms with punches that put Arthur on the mat. Duhon pounces, working ground-and-pound from the top. Duhon drops elbows and passes to half guard. However, Arthur forces a scramble and takes his opponent's back. He goes for the rear-naked choke immediately, but Duhon is fending it off well. Arthur continues to search for the choke, trying to slip his arm under his foe's neck. Arthur works for the choke for three minutes, but can't get it. Just as he looks like he's slipped an arm under Duhon's chin, the round ends. Sherdog.com sees the round for Arthur, 10-9.

Round 2
They exchange early again and both score with big shots. Arthur goes for a head kick and follows up with a front kick to the groin. Duhon goes down and needs time to recover. Duhon is now standing, but is still doubled over in pain. The local crowd is trying to cheer him to continue, and they're successful. Upon the restart, both men throw heavy leather looking for the knockout. Arthur eats some knees from Duhon, but then puts him on the mat a big slam and quickly mounts. Arthur is dropping heavy punches and elbows. After some 15 seconds of punishment, Duhon verbally submits at 2:31 of the second round.

Matt Hunt vs. Kevin Aguilar
Round 1
The pair trade punches early, but neither man lands hard. Hunt gets the takedown into half guard. Aguilar works it back to full guard and quickly slaps on a triangle. Even with the submission applied, Hunt continues to pound away on his foe. Aguilar loosens the triangle and switches to an armbar. Hunt tries to defend, but his swept to his back, where Aguilar climbs into full mount. Hunt rolls, giving up his back. Aguilar peppers the sides of Hunt's head with shots, and he's stuck. Aguilar continues to punch away until referee Myron Gaudet halts the bout at 3:02 of the first frame.

Marcin Held vs. Michael Chandler

Round 1
K. Mills

Chandler (top) choked Held out cold.
Chandler quickly closes on Held, and lands a glacing right. Held fires a right of his own that lands, and Chandler changes levels and tries to put him down. Held stuffs a takedown and quickly rolls for a leglock. Chandler stands along the fence, and Held sinks a kneebar that pulls his foe to the mat. The kneebar is in, it's tight and Chandler is in discomfort. He fights Held's hands, and Held looks for a heel hook as Chandler rolls free. The former Mizzou Tiger dives into Held's guard with a heavy right, and avoids and armbar. Held tries to roll for another leglock and eats a bevy of hard rights from Chandler. Held working hard for another armbar, and Chandler continues to stack and punish him with the right hand.

Another attempted armbar by Held, and Chandler smacks him with another hard right. The 19-year-old Pole is active on bottom, but he's getting drilled with rights. Chandler passes, and locks up a tight arm-triangle choke. Chandler passes to the side, and Held tries to hang on, but he fades out of consciousness. Chandler is the winner by technical submission at 3:56 of the first round.

Bellator Lightweight Tournament Quarterfinal

Carey Vanier vs. Lloyd Woodard

Round 1
The two clinch quickly, trading knees inside. Vanier is hotly pursuing the takedown but Woodard smoothly shuts him down. Vanier puts Woodard on the fence, but can't get him down, and they disengage. Woodard smacks Vanier in the body with a kick, and Vanier shoots. Woodard sprawls expertly, but Vanier is all over him. Vanier gets a waistlock and "Cupcake" defends for a moment, but Vanier slams him with a loud thud. Woodard refuses to stay down, and pops back up, forcing another Vanier shot, which he sprawls on and stands up from. An awkward overhand right from Woodard hits Vanier's left eye, and forces a Vanier shot, which the Montana native defends again. Vanier is coming forward hard, but getting hit with right hands and knees. Vanier pushes Woodard into the fence where they sit until the final five seconds, when Woodard tags Vanier with a salvo at the bell.

Round 2
The pair graze with punches early, but nothing lands solid until Woodard cracks the Greg Jackson student with a short left hook that drops him. "Cupcake" pounces, swarming on Vanier with punches. Woodard tries to grab onto a kimura, but Vanier fights back to his feet. Woodard isn't letting up, though, and he smacks Vanier with another hard salvo of punches and knees that puts him on the mat, helpless, until referee Gary Copeland steps in to rescue him at 46 seconds into the second round.

Josh Shockley vs. Toby Imada

Round 1
Shockley lands a series of hard rights, and quickly gets a clinch and puts Imada on the floor. Shockley tries to hammerfist, and as soon as he tries, Imada armbars his left arm. Shockley stacks, and stands up to slam out of the armbar. He smashes Imada into the canvas, but it doesn't free him from the armlock. Shockley turns away in discomfort and yells in pain toward referee Gary Copeland. Copeland halts the fight, as Shockley grimaces, holding his elbow. Toby Imada advances in the tournament via technical submission at 1:19 of the first frame.

"Razor" Rob McCullough vs. Patricky "Pitbull" Freire

Round 1
Freire immediately tags McCullough with a one-two, and follows up with another hard right. "Pitbull" closes, and McCullough swings away missing. Freire gets right back into the pocket, and smacks McCullough with a short left hook that puts him on the mat. The Brazilian wisely dives on top, and takes full mount. He punches away, forcing McCullough to roll and expose his back with just under four minutes to go in the first round. "Razor" Rob fights the choke, but he ends up on his knees. Freire sinks his arm into McCullough's neck and squeezes, but can't grip his far arm, so a red-faced McCullough just barely survives. The former WEC champion's nose is bloodied, but he's still trying to defend. McCullough feebly punches back over his shoulder, and Freire spins off his back looking for an armbar. McCullough escapes, then pulls out of a triangle, and stands up, kicking Freire's legs. McCullough dives in with a big right hand with five seconds to go, and hammerfists the air, as Freire avoids his hard blows.

Round 2

Freire (right) blasted McCullough.
The two lightweights trade low kicks to start the round. Freire grazes with a left hook and a right cross, but smacks a hard low kick into his foe. A chopping right lands for the Brazilian, whose boxing has looked solid thus far. Hard left hook counter lands for Freire. Hard inside low kick lands for McCullough. Big right follows for "Razor" Rob, but it doesn't seem to faze Freire. The pair paw and circle until a McCullough one-two snaps Freire's head back. McCullough continues to land his low kick to the inside of Freire's lead leg. With 80 seconds left, Freire lands a left hook and drives McCullough into the fence, scoring a takedown. Freire climbs McCullough's legs into the mount, forcing McCullough to roll and expose his back again.

After pepping shots from Freire, McCullough rolls through, and right into Freire's guard, where he gets busy with punches and hammerfists for the last 15 seconds, exciting the crowd.

Round 3
McCullough active with his jab and low kicks early, but can't land clean until a double jab lets him land a clean, hard low kick a minute in. McCullough follows with another hard chop to the leg. "Pitbull" is slowing down, as McCullough continues to land his low kicks. Freire responds finally with a hard one-two that slaps McCullough's ears. A one-two from McCullough is countered nicely by the once-beaten Freire. It's a tight, competitive fight that might be up for grabs with two minutes to go. McCullough low kicks, and a rocket right hook from Freire lays waste to the former WEC champ. McCullough hits the canvas on his haunches, and the Brazilian dives on him with right hands until Gary Copeland intervenes. 3:11 of the third round is the official time for the winner by TKO, Patricky Freire.

Chad Leonhardt vs. Kelly Leo
Round 1
Leonhardt lands a hard body kick to start the middleweight contest, and flurries on Leo against the cage. Leonhardt slams Leo to the mat, and quickly takes side control, but he can't hold Leo down, and his foe scrambles back to the feet. They trade punches, and Leonhardt runs Leo into the fence again. Leo trains for a guillotine, but Leonhardt slams him hard to the mat again into side control. However, just like last time, Leo gets back up quickly. However, the Jackson, Miss. native is fatiguing, and Leonhardt lands a head kick. Leo tries to keep his distance, but the local favorite Leonhardt smacks him with a leg kick at the bell. Sherdog.com sees the first round 10-9 for Chad Leonhardt.

Round 2
Leonhardt opens the second round with a hard right that drops Leo. Leonhardt leaps into side control, where he begins working his foe over with elbows. Leo tries to get up, and Leonhardt has him turtled, driving knees into his ribs. Leo rolls for a heel hook, and gets a hold of Leonhardt's foot. Leo cranks it, and the local favorite grimaces, but fights through the leglock. Leonhardt passes to side again, but the pace has slowed. Leo gets half guard back, as Leonhardt punches away to the body. Leonhardt looks for an arm-triangle choke, and though Leo defends, Leonhardt uses it to get to side control again as the round ends. Sherdog.com sees it 10-9 Leonhardt again.

Between rounds, Leo's corner throws in the towel. Chad Leonhardt is the winner by corner stoppage at the end of the second round.
