Center stage now belongs to one A.J. McKee.
The undefeated Team Bodyshop prospect tipped the scales at 145.5 pounds ahead of his three-round showdown with SBG Ireland rep Brian Moore (145.8) in the Bellator 187 main event on Friday at 3Arena in Dublin. Meanwhile, Sinead Kavanagh (*143.8) hit a snag for her clash against Maria Casanova (137.8) in the co-headliner. She will be fined for missing weight but the bout will proceed.
McKee, the 22-year-old son of Antonio McKee, has raced out to a 9-0 start as a professional while finishing six of his nine opponents. He last appeared at Bellator 182 on Aug. 25, when he took a three-round unanimous decision from journeyman Blair Tugman. A stablemate of reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight titleholder Conor McGregor, Moore has won three of his past four bouts, losing only to Daniel Weichel in that stretch.
Bellator 187 “McKee vs. Moore” -- which airs on Spike at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT -- also features a pair of catchweight confrontations, as Paul Redmond (160.5) meets Sergio de Jesus Santos (159.6) and Kevin Ferguson Jr. (165), aka “Baby Slice,” takes on Fred Freeman (160).
