Bellator 179 Weigh-in Video & Results: ‘Semtex,’ Rory MacDonald On Point

Bellator MMA returns across the mighty pond to invade the U.K. on Friday night with another event overflowing with mixed martial arts mayhem. Anchored by a welterweight showdown between Paul Daley and Rory MacDonald, Bellator 179 should keep fight fans thrilled going into the weekend.

At Thursday’s weigh-ins, everybody was on point, all making weight in their respective divisions. But the focal point of the marquee will most certainly be the battle between Daley and MacDonald, two former Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters looking to reign in the Bellator cage.

MacDonald, who had that amazingly brutal war with Robbie Lawler at UFC 189, is looking to bounce from that TKO loss and the ensuing decision setback against Stephen Thompson. “Red King” hasn’t fought in nearly a year, but the Canadian expects his Bellator debut to be a rousing success. MacDonald tipped the scale at 170 pounds.

Daley, meanwhile, will have his hometown fans strongly behind him as he looks to build upon his magnificent flying knee knockout of Brennan Ward at Bellator 170 in January. “Semtex” has long been one of the most lethal strikers in the sport and aims for his 30th pro KO against MacDonald in the main event. Daley came in officially at 170.75 pounds.

Bellator 179 will take place inside Wembley Arena in London, England. The action will be televised live on Spike beginning at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT. The prelims will be streamed live on Bellator.com.
