Bellator 165 Weigh-in Results: Michael Chandler, Benson Henderson Cleared for Title Tilt

On a night overflowing with excellent combat from every corner of the globe, Bellator MMA will unleash one its finest cards in recent memory on Saturday night. Bellator 165 (current odds) will see lightweight champion Michael Chandler defending his crown against Benson Henderson in the main event while Michael Page will take on Fernando Gonzalez in the co-feature.

Chandler, who has resurrected his fighting career after losing his title and three consecutive bouts, will look to the make the first defense of his crown in his second reign as champ. He torched Patricky Freire in the opening round at Bellator: Dynamite 2 in June and is aiming to replicate the destruction against Henderson. “Iron” Chandler has arguably never looked better and at Friday’s weigh-ins, he came in flawlessly at 155 pounds, ready to retain his belt.

Henderson, a former World Extreme Cagefighting and Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight champion, will look to become the first MMA fighter ever to capture a world title in the three promotions. “Smooth” Benson failed in his bid to snatch Andrey Koreshkov’s welterweight title in April but rebounded with a TKO stoppage of Patricio Freire in August. A win over Chandler would put the Phoenix fighter in rarified air and on the scale, he was all business. Henderson officially weighed 154.9 pounds.

Bellator 165 will be televised live from within the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., on Spike beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
