Dan O'Connor vs. Miles McDonald

Round 1

McDonald catches a high kick and dumps O’Connor to the ground, then kicks at his legs a few times before allowing him to stand. As McDonald presses forward, O’Connor cracks him with a couple hard, short left hooks. O’Connor gets pushed against the fence, reverses the position, and McDonald breaks the clinch with a flurry of punchs. McDonald resets and dives back into the pocket with a Superman punch, then shoves O’Connor against the fence again. They separate after a few seconds, and McDonald lands a thudding kick to O’Connor’s body but takes a right hand counter in return. O’Connor has a spinning back fist blocked but zaps McDonald with a right hand behind it. McDonald explodes into action with a leaping knee, then clinch elbows as he works O’Connor against the fence again. O’Connor gets off a few good body kicks before he’s knocked to the ground by a lunging right hand from McDonald. On the ground, O’Connor grabs hold of McDonald’s right leg and tries to crank out a heel hook before the bell, but time runs out.

Round 2

O’Connor shoots in and gets clipped by a spinning back fist, but he ducks under the next one and gets inside on McDonald’s hips. McDonald forces him to the ground, then plays defense as O’Connor tries for another leglock. Back up come the strawweights, McDonald instigating another clinch on the fence, but O’Connor catches him with a low knee and McDonald drops to the ground in pain. After a minute or so, McDonald is ready to continue, and he sprawls on the next shot in the center of the cage. O’Connor grabs for an arm, looking for another submission, but McDonald flattens him out and passes to side control. When McDonald goes to knee-on-belly position and tries to mount, O’Connor uses his momentum to sweep to top position. O’Connor remains on top for the final minute of the round, both men landing short strikes as O’Connor goes heavy on top.

Round 3

McDonald connects with a left hook and a jumping knee that forces O’Connor to back up toward the fence. Now it’s a leg kick from McDonald, and he backs up as O’Connor throws a few punches that bounce of his gloves. O’Connor eats a straight left hand, throws a body kick and tags McDonald with a straight right. O’Connor shoots for a long single-leg and gets shoved to the ground; McDonald stands and invites O’Connor to do the same. O’Connor starts to land more left hands and piles on with leg kicks, but McDonald is still able to shut down O’Connor’s next takedown attempt.

With 90 seconds left, McDonald tries to spin around and take the back of O’Connor, who grabs a kimura from underneath and rolls from his knees to his back. It proves to be a bad move, as McDonald free his arm and steps straight into full mount. Elbows and punches fall down on O’Connor’s face, forcing him to roll over, and McDonald is on his back immediately with a body triangle locked on. McDonald applies a tight rear-naked choke, forcing O’Connor to submit.

Eric Irvin vs. Hugh Pulley

Round 1

Irvin catches a kick and hustles Pulley to the canvas, but the lightweights scramble right back up. Seconds later, Irvin gets hold of a low kick and again puts Pulley on the ground. Irvin attaches himself to Pulley’s back with a body triangle and remains there, working for a rear-naked choke, as Pulley stands up. Irvin is riding too high and gets shaken off by Pulley, who lands a couple punches against the cage before backing out to reset in the center. An overhand right connects for Pulley, but he’s pushed out of range by Irvin’s jab. Irvin tries to clinch up but can’t keep hold of Pulley, who is controlling the center of the cage while Irvin circles the outside. Irvin kicks the legs out from under Pulley, then pushes him against the fence when he stands. A trip takedown near the fence doesn’t last long, and Irvin has to continue holding Pulley on the fence. Pulley uses a judo throw to toss Irvin to the mat, and “The Wolverine” moves straight into full mount. Irvin grabs for a heel hook from underneath, forcing Pulley out of mount before he can do much damage. The round ends with Pulley tangled up in Irvin’s guard.

Round 2

Irvin gets Pulley against the cage early in the round, only to be tossed to the mat with another beautiful throw. Pulley lands in full mount and begins dropping elbows on the face of Irvin, who gets hold of a leg and threatens with another heel hook to force Pulley out of mount. Irvin switches to an arm, can’t do anything with it, but manages to twist up Pulley until he’s swept underneath. Irvin passes to side control with just under two minutes remaining, but the position allows Pulley to post up and stand. They repeat the sequence from the beginning of the round, with Irvin holding outside position in a clinch against the fence and Pulley using the shorter man’s momentum to trip him to the ground. Irvin gets up almost immediately, grabs Pulley’s waist and tries to ride him to the ground but cannot.

Round 3

Irvin charges at Pulley and manages to rush him to the ground with a single-leg but can’t keep him there. When they stand up, it’s Pulley marching forward, stepping into range and picking at Irvin with single shots, then stepping back to dodge Irvin’s offense.

It’s slow-motion striking from both tired lightweights in the middle of the cage, and now Pulley floors Irvin with a leg kick. Irvin gets back up, only to be sent back to the canvas with a kick to the liver. Irvin is barely hanging on with one minute left, clinging to the leg of Pulley, who’s trying to pound him out with punches as referee John Duever looks on. Irvin stands up and wraps his arms around Pulley, trying to trip him to the ground, but Pulley takes him down with one last throw.

Round 1

Kurtz begins the contest with a high volume of kicks, attacking Cella's legs and body. Cella jabs and slowly inches Kurtz back toward the fence, baiting him with strikes then taking him down. Cella gets busy with heavy elbows on top, nearly passing to full mount, but Kurtz jumps back to his feet quickly. Kurtz grabs a guillotine and tries to pull guard quickly, but Cella easily escapes, sets back up in Kurtz's full guard and gets busy with ground-and-pound. Kurtz looks for an omoplata, but Cella escapes and unloads more punishment. Kurtz regains guard and gets a high guard, but Cella tripods up and breaks his posture. With just under a minute to go, referee Mike England stands the pair up. Kurtz winds up a big overhand, but Cella tags him with a right-hook counter that drops him. Cella dives on top and stays there until the bell.

Round 2

Cella catches Kurtz in a front headlock and bullies him against the fence to deliver some knees to the head. Kurtz escapes, shoots for a long single-leg and gets forced down to the ground by Cella, who makes things uncomfortable with a can opener from top position. Referee Mike England tells Cella to stay busy on top, and Cella obliges with a few big right hands. Kurtz catches Cella with a shot from underneath, opening a faucet from Cella’s nose, blood leaking all over Kurtz and the canvas.

After nearly a minute of circling and pawing, Heatherly shoots in and easily floors Gross with a takedown. Heatherly tries to slip around and take the back, can’t secure the position and opts to mount Gross instead. Heatherly gives up an arm-triangle setup to flatten out Gross and drop elbows on his face. From mount, Heatherly hooks Gross’ legs, keeping him flattened out on the bottom and throwing more short punches while referee John Duever calls for action. Gross pushes Heatherly back to half guard, where Heatherly briefly attempts a guillotine, then gives it up to pass to side control with 90 seconds left in the round. Heatherly has a brabo choke setup, but Gross goes belly-down and circles out of it, then explodes back to his feet. Gross tries to corner Heatherly near the fence, but the shorter man circles out to the center. Gross finishes the round with a few leg kicks.

Round 2

Gross keeps things standing early in round two, denying a takedown attempt from Heatherly to land more leg kicks and probe with jabs. The second shot from Heatherly yields a takedown, and now “Stump” passes to side control again as he tries to flatten out Gross on the ground near the fence. The referee warns Gross for grabbing the fence as he tries to escape Heatherly’s heavy top pressure. Just under two minutes to go in the round, and the ref brings the fighters back to their feet. Gross immediately gets busy with low kicks, body kicks and hooks, forcing Heatherly to move backwards around the outside. Heatherly tries a sloppy shot and gets pushed to the ground by Gross, who lands in half guard on Heatherly’s right side and starts dropping solid elbow strikes to the face. Round 3

Gross begins round three as he began the previous two, pushing the action and walking forward on Heatherly with low kicks and pawing punches. Heatherly once again changes levels and puts Gross on the ground with a takedown near the fence, then moves between half guard and side control while socking Gross with short punches. Halfway through the round, Gross posts up and tries to get vertical, but Heatherly is wrapped around his waist, preventing the stand-up. Heatherly triangles Gross’ legs and flattens him out again, then begins slowly inching up to full mount.

Just as Heatherly gets to mount, Gross tries to power out and winds up surrendering his back. Gross turns over again, and now Heatherly is back to side control, leaning right to left across Gross’ body and keeping him completely flat on the canvas. Heatherly looks to be moving to north-south position, then steps over to full mount with seconds remaining, and that’s where it ends.

Justin Lawrence vs. Sean Wilson

Round 1

Karate stylist Lawrence gets his kicks working early, moving Wilson backward toward the fence by flicking out high and side kicks. Wilson swings a couple punches in Lawrence’s direction to move back to the center of the cage, but he pulls up short and Lawrence is soon pressing him back with more kicks. Halfway through the round, Wilson bursts forward with a clean left hook and then muscles Lawrence against the cage. Lawrence shoves him away, and now the featherweights reset in the middle. A sneaky left hook drops Wilson to the ground, but Lawrence doesn’t follow and “P-Town” jumps back to his feet. The next step-in knee and right hand from Lawrence land on Wilson’s temple, sending the veteran to the canvas on his knees. Lawrence tries to pound him out with one minute left on the clock, then jumps on Wilson’s back and begins working for a rear-naked choke instead. Lawrence can’t get under Wilson’s chin and abandons the RNC in favor of securing top position as Wilson drops to his back. A few big elbows from Lawrence have Wilson turning over, covering up, and now Lawrence goes all-in with his ground-and-pound. Lawrence continues to bomb on his hurt opponent until referee Mike England steps in to rescue Wilson from any further damage.

Steven Mann vs. Justin Guthrie

Round 1

The southpaw Mann drops Guthrie with a right high kick in the opening half minute of the bout, but Guthrie jumps right back to his feet and catches Mann in a standing guillotine. Mann drops to his knees, frees his head from the choke and turns the corner to take the back of the kneeling Guthrie. Mann secures one hook, then the other after a brief struggle, and now he flattens out Guthrie from back mount to unload with heavy right hands. Guthrie gets back to his knees but can’t shake Mann off his back and has to play two-on-one defense with his hands. Mann begins to ride high with three minutes left in the round, but he’s still catching Guthrie with some solid right hands. Mann tries a rear-naked choke, can’t cinch it and goes back to dropping punches instead. Guthrie shakes one hook but still can’t free himself from Mann’s back-mount. Still hunting for the RNC, Mann locks up a body triangle and then dives off to attempt an armbar in the closing seconds.

Round 2

After getting pasted throughout the opening frame, the inspired Guthrie shoots for a takedown against the fence and drops to his knees, allowing Mann to slice him open with elbows from the standing position. Nonetheless, Guthrie is undeterred. He powers through, completes the takedown and lands in half guard. Mann tries to scramble up and Guthrie is reading for him, setting up a brabo choke and forces a near-instant tap from Mann. It’s a quick and surprising come-from-behind victory for Justin Guthrie.

Michael Chandler vs. Derek Campos

Round 1

Campos begins the bout with a pair of inside leg kicks but misses with a series of right hands behind them. The lightweights stand toe-to-toe and begin trading single punches, and it’s the hand speed of Chandler getting the better in the early exchanges. Campos eats a pair of right hands, a short left hook, then gets floored with a right hand behind the ear. Chandler follows him to ground, kneeling to blast Campos with huge follow-up elbows and punches. Campos tries to grab an armbar from underneath and gets another elbow for his trouble.

Chandler is still thumping from guard, smashing down on Campos with big forearm strikes, but Campos has his dukes up now and is deflecting the brunt of the strikes. Campos kicks Chandler away and jumps back to his feet, but Chandler catches a kick and rushes him against the fence. Chandler lifts up Campos from behind and ragdolls him to the ground, where the former champ immediately begins hunting for the rear-naked choke, first with his right arm and then the left. Campos goes belly-down, allowing Chandler to latch on to his back. Chandler finally secures the RNC and cinches it tight around Campos’ throat, eliciting a quick tap out.

Daniel Straus vs. Henry Corrales

Round 1

Straus charges in behind a missed overhand right and plows Corrales to the ground at the base of the fence. Corrales is back on his feet in a few seconds but pressed against the cage by Straus, who throws a few knees at Corrales’ legs and hunts for an inside trip. Corrales blocks the trip and tries one of his own, but instead is ridden to the ground by Straus. After a brief guillotine attempt, Straus releases the neck of Corrales and stads up to keep the fight on the fence. Corrales reverses his man, taking the outside position and dropping for a single-leg. Straus denies it, stands up Corrales and grabs the Thai clinch to drive a knee up the center. Halfway through the opening round, Straus turns Corrales against the cage and opens up with a plethora of strikes, a pair of left hands and a knee doing damage before one more left hook takes the legs out from under him. Corrales stands back up on rubber legs while Staus continues his assault, scoring with more left hands, slicing elbows and uppercuts in the clinch. Straus backs up a few steps, allowing a wobbly Corrales to stagger forward. With 90 seconds on the clock, Straus strikes from distance, popping Corrales with long punches and low kicks. Corrales lurches forward, getting back a leg kick of his own but then standing in front of Straus to take more punches. Straus drives Corrales to the ground in the center of the cage with a takedown in the final 20 seconds, then finishes the round catching the standing Corrales in a modified guillotine choke.

Round 2

Straus opens round two with some more range striking, then steps into the pocket to deliver a hard left hand. Corrales is still putting kicks on the southpaw’s lead leg, but there’s not a lot on the strikes. When Straus lands a borderline body kick, he pauses to ask Corrales if he’s alright and then touches gloves. Straus backs him up with a couple pawing jabs, tries to change levels but gets shoved away by the Californian. A left hook on the chin sends Corrales crashing backward to the canvas.

Straus pounces on Corrales' back and gets a body triangle. Corrales blocks his rear-naked choke and tries to roll over, but he’s held in place with the body triangle. With Corrales trying to turn, Straus snatches up an arm-triangle and transitions to top position. When Corrales doesn’t tap, Straus abandons the choke and takes full mount instead. Corrales pushes him back to half guard and sits up against the cage, and Straus stands to catch the seated fighter in a power guillotine. Straus cranks on the nasty choke and gets Corrales to submit.

Bobby Lashley vs. Dan Charles

Round 1

Charles pushes Lashley backward with a front kick to the chest, but 10 seconds later, Lashley shoots forward and hits an easy double-leg takedown. Lashley tries to hold down Charles from side control but loses him when Charles sits up and scrambles to his feet. A few right hands sneak through for Charles, whose roll is immediately slowed when Lashley pops him with a counter right near the fence. Lashley pounces on the opportunity, shooting in behind the hard punch to drag Charles to the mat. As soon as Charles stands again, Lashley slams him back down with a suplex. Now, Charles kneels near the fence absorbing knees to the side and legs from Lashley, who keeps “Dan the Man” wrapped up with a waist lock. Near the midway point of the round, Lashley lifts and slams Charles to the mat, then repeats when Charles climbs back to his feet. Lashley alternates between knees to the legs and hammer fists, mixing in some foot stomps when Charles stands again. Referee “Big” John McCarthy calls for work, and Lashley responds with another suplex which lands Charles on his knees. Lashley kneels beside him in riding position, socking him in the face with right hands until Charles gets back up. The round ends with Lashleywrapped around Charles’ back, dragging him backward to try another suplex.

Round 2

Charles gets backed up to the fence, has a low kick caught and opts to pull guard for a triangle attempt. Lashley slams his way out and gets back to work with thudding right hands as Charles rolls to his knees and covers up. One minute in, Charles remains on his knees, getting a brief respite as Lashley pauses his offense to secure position. Charles climbs back to the feet, aided by a grab of the fence, for which he’s warned by referee McCarthy. Lashley suplexes his man straight back to the canvas, then hangs all over him when Charles stands again. Another huge slam from Lashley puts Charles flat on his back.

As Charles gets to his knees, absorbing more punches, McCarthy tells him to fight back. Charles stands up and gets slammed down, another grab of the fence and another warning in between. It’s lather, rinse, repeat for Lashley at this point, continually slamming Charles to the ground and softening him up with right hands. With each takedown, referee McCarthy gets in a little closer, talking to Charles, telling him to move. Finally, inside the final minute, after a few dozen unanswered punches, McCarthy steps in to halt the beating.

Patricio Freire vs. Daniel Weichel

Round 1

John McCarthy is the referee for tonight’s 145-pound title fight. The champion lands the first hard shot of the fight about 30 seconds in, stepping inside to put a right hand on Weichel’s chin. Freire repeats the sequence, delivering another single strike and then slipping out of range. Weichel puts a borderline thigh kick inside, but it’s deemed clean by McCarthy. A straight right hand snaps back Weichel’s head, then he catches a high kick and nearly trips “Pitbull” to the ground. Freire keeps his balance with a hand on the mat and spins away. The featherweights bounce on their feet in the center of the cage midway through the opening round, neither man throwing many strikes or connecting cleanly when they do. A series of punches from Weichel bounce off Freire’s guard but succeed in pushing the champ backward. With 90 seconds on the clock, Weichel changes levels and plows Freire to the ground, then stands up right away and allows the Brazilian to do the same. Freire ducks under a big overhand right and comes out the other side pointing at the back of his head, complaining of a foul which referee McCarthy does not acknowledge. The crowd begins to boo in the final 30 seconds, and Freire fails on a single-leg shot. Moments before the bell, Weichel unleashes a blistering straight right which catches Freire on the chin. The champion staggers backward to the fence and appears to be knocked out for a split second when Weichel drills him with a knee. Just at that moment, the bell rings, Freire bounces back up and referee McCarthy steps in to end the round.

Round 2

Freire emerges for round two sporting a shiner beneath his left eye where Weichel’s big right hand caught him at the end of the round. Weichel gives the champion no space, walking him toward the fence with jabs and catching Freire with a body kick, then a pair of right crosses. With his back against the cage, “Pitbull” uncorks a beauty of a left hook that rattles Weichel’s head and sends the German crashing to the canvas. Weichel is out, and referee McCarthy immediately rescues him.

Round 1

There’s no touch of gloves, and Shamrock shoots straight for Slice’s legs, bringing him to his knees after a brief struggle. Slice stands up and the fighters wind up in the Greco-Roman clinch for a minute before separating in the center of the cage. Shamrock shoots again and this time brings Slice down with ease. Shamrock jumps on Slice’s back and slips his right arm underneath Slice’s formidable beard to apply a rear-naked choke.

Slice tries to fight out of the RNC as referee John McCarthy looks on from a foot away. Shamrock pulls him backward, both hooks in, trying to finish the choke, but Slice peels his hands away and turns toward Shamrock to stand up. Shamrock stands with him and gets dropped instantly with a right hand. Up comes Shamrock, wobbly on the fence, and Slice sends him back to the ground with a barrage of right hooks and uppercuts. The dazed Shamrock takes a seat against the fence, and referee McCarthy steps between the fighters before Slice can drop any more punches.
