A pair of Brazilian bantamweights will do battle on home soil in February when Iuri Alcantara faces Wilson Reis at UFC Fight Night 36.
UFC officials Thursday announced the booking, which takes place at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil. UFC Fight Night 36 airs live on Fox Sports 1 and is headlined by a middleweight showdown between former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and ex-Strikeforce and Dream titlist Gegard Mousasi.
Alcantara began his Octagon career with two victories but then hit speed bumps in the form of a loss and a no-contest. Although the 33-year-old righted his ship this past May by knocking out Illiarde Santos at UFC on FX 8, the former Jungle Fight lightweight king stumbled in his most recent outing, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Urijah Faber on Aug. 17.
Reis, meanwhile, has not lost since receiving his Bellator release two years ago on the heels of back-to-back defeats. The onetime EliteXC champion rode four straight victories into his September Octagon debut, which saw Reis outpoint 12-year-pro Ivan Menjivar at UFC 165.
