The California-based promotion recently announced that it has signed the unbeaten Caldwell to a multi-fight, multi-year contract extension. Exact terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Darrion is a fighter who I really think has that x-factor,” Bellator President Scott Coker said in a release. “After his last fight, I looked at our matchmaker and I just said, ‘Wow, this is kid is exploding with talent.’ I’m very happy we were able to get this deal done and I look forward to seeing this star rise for years to come.”

That aforementioned last fight came against Joe Warren at Bellator 151 in March, when “The Wolf” dominated and submitted the former two-division champion in the opening stanza to solidify his position as a 135-pound contender.

An NCAA national champion wrestler at North Carolina State University in 2009, Caldwell is 9-0 in his burgeoning MMA career, including six triumphs under the Bellator banner. The New Jersey native has finished four opponents by submission and one via technical knockout.
