Bantamweight Chad ‘Robo’ Robichaux Signs with World Series of Fighting

Chad Robichaux has signed a deal to compete for World Series of Fighting.

Sherdog.com confirmed the signing Tuesday with a promotion official, who verified that Robichaux will compete at bantamweight for the Las Vegas-based promotion. It is unknown when the Bellator vet will make his promotional debut, however. MMAJunkie.com first reported Robichaux’s signing.

Robichaux, 37, has competed just once in the last two years, when he submitted Joseph Sandoval with a north-south choke in May 2012. Prior to that triumph, “Robo” had lost back-to-back fights, falling to former Bellator champion Zach Makovsky before submitting to a Jonathan Mackles guillotine choke in July 2011 under the Legacy Fighting Championship banner.

WSOF was founded last year and has held three American events to date. The organization held its first international show this past Saturday, which saw Rene Martinez submit former boxing champion Ricardo Mayorga with a guillotine choke in Nicaragua. WSOF 4 takes place Aug. 10 from Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., and is headlined by a light heavyweight showdown between kickboxing ace Tyrone Spong and former Tachi Palace champion Angel DeAnda. The evening’s main card airs live on NBC Sports Network and will also see Strikeforce vet Gesias Cavalcante lock horns with UFC alum Tyson Griffin.
