BJJ Coach Rodrigo Medeiros Touts Renewed Drive in Brock Lesnar Ahead of UFC 200
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight titleholder and current World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Brock Lesnar will return to the Octagon at UFC 200 on July 9, when he meets 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix winner Mark Hunt in the co-main event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Lesnar has already begun sharpening his ground skills under jiu-jitsu coach Rodrigo “Comprido” Medeiros.
According to the two-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu absolute world champion, Lesnar has showed renewed drive during training.

Medeiros recently awarded Lesnar the rank of blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
“Actually, Brock, [MMA coach] Marty Morgan and [former Bellator MMA champion] Cole Konrad are all at a higher level than blue belt on the ground, but I have to follow jiu-jitsu rules,” he said. “I couldn’t jump them from blue to purple, but I guarantee you that Brock has improved a lot on the ground. He’s very dangerous from the top but also has a very good defensive guard.”
Lesnar has not fought since he succumbed to a first-round body kick and follow-up punches from former Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 in December 2011. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Alliance Team founder Romero Cavalcante, Medeiros recognizes the dangers associated with facing Hunt.
“One has the better striking credentials, and the other has the better wrestling credentials,” he said. “The fans can definitely expect a battle between two titans, and I bet Lesnar will be the winner.”
