A lightweight clash between Anthony Pettis and Michael Chiesa is nearly finalized for UFC 223.

Both fighters have verbally agreed to the matchup, although it hasn’t been formally announced by the Las Vegas-based promotion. ESPN.com first reported the booking on Tuesday. UFC 223 takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 7 and is headlined by a lightweight title bout between interim champion Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

After a 1-1 stint at featherweight, Pettis returned to 155 pounds at UFC 213, where he captured a unanimous verdict over veteran Jim Miller. The former champion wasn’t as successful in his most recent outing, however, as he suffered a third-round submission loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC Fight Night 120.

Chiesa saw a three-bout winning streak come to an end at UFC Fight Night 112, when he was submitted in the opening round by Kevin Lee on June 25. The Sikjitsu representative is 7-3 during his tenure with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
