Anthony Johnson Sheds ‘Rumble’ Persona, Reaffirms Retirement in Monday Instagram Post
After calling his MMA career quits at 33 years old, after over a decade as a pro fighter and establishing a reputation as perhaps the most devastating hitter in the sport's history, you'd think Anthony Johnson would be keen to remain “Rumble.” Instead, he says he's happy to just be Anthony Johnson again.

“Hello Monday! A new beginning starts today and I am so happy about that... My body can recover and I can focus on something different other than mma,” Johnson wrote.
“I'll miss mma and every aspect of the game, but my time is over
and I'm ready to watch the new generation take over,” he continued.
“Now I can be Anthony
Johnson/AJ and not Anthony Rumble Johnson!”
Following his sudden retirement, Johnson said that he had a new career lined up outside of MMA, but didn't give any details. But, after the hashtags #LARams and #Rams appeared in his Twitter bio briefly, Johnson was quick to shoot down any talk of him auditioning to play in the National Football League.
“I am not about to go play football for the Rams,” he said at the post-fight press conference. “That’s absolutely insane,” he said at the UFC 210 post-fight press conference.
“Rumble Squad forever! #RumbleSquad,” Johnson closed on Twitter before punctuating the post with, “The End of Rumble”
