Alvarez vs. Nurmagomedov Targeted for UFC 206 After UFC 205 Bout Falls Through
At least for now, a lightweight showdown between champ Eddie Alvarez and featherweight ruler Conor McGregor at UFC 205 is not likely to happen.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that McGregor is rehabbing a leg injury suffered against Nate Diaz at UFC 202 and is unlikely to compete at UFC 205 in any form. That would align with the medical suspension handed out by the Nevada Athletic Commission, which would sideline McGregor until Feb. 17 pending orthopedic clearance.
However,
MMAFighting.com is reporting that McGregor is healthy and
willing to face Alvarez at UFC 205. According to that report, the
Irishman is healthy and training and is currently only interested
in fighting for the 155-pound belt.
Prior to the most recent reports, Alvarez vs. McGregor was the rumored headliner for UFC 205. On Tuesday night, that speculation picked up thanks to a pair of tweets from Alvarez directed at the featherweight king.

A headliner has yet to be announced for UFC 205, so the situation could still be fluid. However, UFC President Dana White is expected to announce the entirety of the card at a press conference on Tuesday.
