Alvarez, Chandler Hit Marks for Bellator 58 Lightweight Title Tilt
Eddie Alvarez's second title defense is now official, as the reigning Bellator Fighting Championships 155-pound kingpin and challenger Michael Chandler both hit their contracted weights at Friday's Bellator 58 weigh-ins.
Alvarez tipped the scales at 154.75 pounds, while Chandler came in at 154.5 ahead of their headlining showdown at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla. Also featuring a non-title catch-weight affair between Bellator 185-pound pacesetter Hector Lombard (193) and UFC veteran Trevor Prangley (194.75), the evening's main draw airs on MTV2 and Epix.

A winner in 12 of his last 13 fights, Alvarez has not lost since submitting to a Shinya Aoki heel hook in 2008. The Philadelphia Fight Factory representative has been perfect through his six-fight Bellator career, winning the promotion's inaugural 155-pound tournament and successfully defending his belt against Pat Curran in his most recent outing on April 2.
Chandler earned his shot at Alvarez by conquering Bellator's fourth-season tournament, besting Marcin Held, Lloyd Woodard and Patricky Freire in the process. Known for his power and superior wrestling, the undefeated Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts representative has finished six of his eight career victims by either knockout or submission.
