World-ranked bantamweight prospect Aljamain Sterling will welcome Johnny Eduardo back to the Octagon at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Dec. 10.

Sterling announced the matchup during Monday’s episode of “The MMA Hour.” The event, which takes place at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and will be broadcast via UFC Fight Pass, is headlined by a women’s strawweight dual between Paige VanZant and Joanne Calderwood.

The announcement comes less than two week after Sterling stated via Twitter that he would “rather not fight in Vegas, unless it’s the only option” on the table. The New Yorker was one of several fighters to declare their preference not to compete in the fight capital after the Nevada Athletic Commission’s recent five-year suspension of Nick Diaz.

Sterling, 26, is unbeaten through 11 professional bouts and three UFC appearances. The “Funkmaster” scored his most significant victory to date in April, when he submitted perennial bantamweight ranker Takeya Mizugaki in New Jersey.

Eduardo, 37, will return to face Sterling after a 19-month absence from the cage. The Brazilian veteran from Rio de Janeiro’s famed Nova Uniao camp upped his stock in his last outing by knocking out former WEC champion Eddie Wineland in the first round.
