A heavyweight showdown between Alexey Oleinik and Jared Rosholt has been pulled from UFC on Fox 10, and the event will now move forward with 11 fights.
UFC officials announced the change on Wednesday, naming an Oleinik injury as the cause of the bout’s cancellation.
UFC on Fox 10 takes place Jan. 25 at Chicago’s United Center and is headlined by a lightweight matchup between former UFC champion Benson Henderson and ex-Strikeforce king Josh Thomson. The evening’s main card airs live on Fox’s flagship network, and the prelims will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Oleinik, 36, is a veteran of 58 pro fights over 16 years of competition. “The Boa Constrictor” has not lost since March 2012, winning his last nine bouts by stoppage and most recently submitting UFC alum Mirko Filipovic with a neck crank this past November.
Rosholt, meanwhile, owns 10 pro bouts to his credit and has won five straight fights since suffering his lone career defeat back in August 2012. The younger brother of UFC vet Jake Rosholt, “The Big Show” made his Octagon debut on Nov. 30, posting a unanimous decision over Walt Harris at “The Ultimate Fighter 18” finale.
