Alexander Gustafsson-Gegard Mousasi Headlines April 6 UFC Event in Sweden
A light heavyweight showdown between surging Swede Alexander Gustafsson and former Strikeforce champion Gegard Mousasi will headline the UFC’s next trip to Sweden.
Promotion officials announced the pairing on Saturday, revealing that the 205-pound standouts will square off April 6 at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm. The event is rumored to serve as UFC on Fuel TV 9, though the show’s title has not yet been made official.

“The Mauler” has competed just once since that triumph, outpointing former champion Mauricio Rua at UFC on Fox 5 on Dec. 8. Known for his hand speed and length, the once-beaten Gustafsson owns nine victories by form of knockout and rides a six-fight winning streak into his meeting with “The Dreamcatcher.”
Mousasi, meanwhile, has not lost since relinquishing his Strikeforce belt to Muhammed Lawal in April 2010. The Iranian-born competitor then proceeded to win Dream’s light heavyweight title before drawing with UFC vet Keith Jardine in his return to the Strikeforce cage. Three straight wins followed for Mousasi, who most recently submitted Mike Kyle with a rear-naked choke at Strikeforce’s final show on Jan. 12.
