Alan Patrick and John Makdessi will do battle this coming February, when the lightweights square off at UFC 169.
UFC officials Tuesday announced the bout, which takes place Feb. 1 at the Prudential Center in Newark , N.J. The Super Bowl Saturday card is topped by two championship fights, with a bantamweight title unification bout between Dominick Cruz and Renan Barao serving as the main event.
Patrick, 30, has been perfect thus far in his 11-fight pro career, posting a pair of victories under Brazil’s Bitetti Combat banner before stopping Garett Whiteley in his Octagon debut this past October at UFC Fight Night 29.
Makdessi, 28, has won three straight bouts since suffering back-to-back defeats to Dennis Hallman and Anthony Njokuani. A striking specialist, “The Bull” most recently competed at UFC 165, scoring a first-round knockout over Renee Forte on Sept. 21.
