Akira Corassani-Robbie Peralta Announced for UFC on Fuel TV 9 in Stockholm

A featherweight confrontation between Akira Corassani and Robbie Peralta has been greenlit for UFC on Fuel TV 9, promotion officials announced Tuesday.

UFC on Fuel TV 9 takes place April 6 at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm and nearly marks the one-year anniversary of the Las Vegas-based promotion’s first trip to Sweden. The Fuel TV-broadcast main draw is headlined by a light heavyweight fight between Swedish contender Alexander Gustafsson and former Dream and Strikeforce titlist Gegard Mousasi.

Verbal agreements are in place for the Corassani-Peralta shodown, though it is currently unknown whether the bout will be a part of the main card or the Facebook-streamed prelims. The featherweights were initially expected to collide next Saturday at UFC 156, but the fight was postponed due to Corassani coming down with an illness.

An alumnus of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14, Corassani saw an injury prevent him from competing in both the show’s live season finale and UFC on Fuel TV 2 last year. Corassani finally made his Octagon debut this past September at UFC on Fuel TV 5, taking a hard-fought split decision from “TUF 14” cast mate Andy Ogle to earn his 10th career win.

Peralta was also last seen in September, earning a 23-second knockout over British striker Jason Young at UFC on Fuel TV 5. “Problems” has not lost since 2009, posting two wins with one no-contest to start his UFC career. The 27-year-old owns 12 of his 16 wins via knockout and has gone the distance just thrice in nearly six years as a pro.
