Abel Trujillo to Face Tony Ferguson at UFC 181 on Dec. 6

A lightweight pairing featuring Abel Trujillo and Tony Ferguson has been added to UFC 181 in Las Vegas.

UFC officials announced the bout on Wednesday. The pay-per-view takes place at Mandalay Bay Events Center on Dec. 6 and features a pair of title fights, as Johny Hendricks defends his welterweight strap against Robbie Lawler, and reigning lightweight king Anthony Pettis squares off with Gilbert Melendez.

Trujillo, who was supposed to fight Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night “Bader vs. St. Preux” before suffering an injury, will enter the Octagon for the first time since February. “Killa” was also supposed to scrap with Bobby Green at the ill-fated UFC 176 event before Green filled in on short notice for Michael Johnson against Josh Thomson. Trujillo has won his last two fights since dropping a decision to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 160.

Ferguson was just in action against Danny Castillo at UFC 177, defeating “Last Call” via split decision. “El Cucuy” has won seven of his last eight bouts since joining the Las Vegas-based promotion. Ferguson’s only loss came at the hands of Michael Johnson at UFC on Fox 3.
