8 Bouts Signed for UFC Fight Night 22

Undefeated welterweight prospect David Mitchell will make his promotional debut in a preliminary matchup against Anthony Waldburger at UFC Fight Night 22 on Sept. 15 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. Eight fights are now official for the event, which will air live on Spike TV.

Perfect in 11 professional appearances, Mitchell owns seven first-round finishes. The Windsor, Calif.-based 30-year-old last appeared at Tachi Palace Fights 5 on July 9, when he needed just 92 seconds to choke Poppies Martinez unconscious with a triangle choke. Wins against UFC castaway Tim McKenzie, “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 6 cast member War Machine and Affliction veteran Bobby Green buoy Mitchell’s unblemished resume.

Waldburger will carry a three-fight winning streak into his first Octagon appearance. The 22-year-old Texan has not competed since he earned a unanimous decision against Pat Healy at Shark Fights 6 in September. Waldburger has delivered 10 of his 12 career victories by submission and holds other notable wins over UFC veterans Pete Spratt and Brian Foster. Only two of his 17 fights have reached the judges.

Meanwhile, EliteXC veteran Jared Hamman will lock horns with Kyle Kingsbury in a preliminary light heavyweight match featuring two former college football players.

Hamman posted his first win inside the Octagon at UFC 111, as he took a unanimous decision from Rodney Wallace in March. A training partner of former International Fight League light heavyweight champion Vladimir Matyushenko, the 28-year-old Atascadero, Calif., native has won three of his last four fights. Hamman has secured nine of his 12 career victories by knockout or technical knockout.

Spawned by Season 8 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series, Kingsbury has not competed since he eked out a split decision against Razak Al-Hassan at UFC 104 in October. Based at the American Kickboxing Academy, the 28-year-old Californian has been finished only once -- by former two-division King of the Cage champion Tony Lopez -- in 11 professional appearances.

Finally, American Top Team’s Rich Attonito will welcome Ring of Combat veteran Rafael Natal to the Octagon in a preliminary middleweight tilt. Attonito will ride a three-fight winning streak into the match. The 33-year-old Elizabeth, N.J., native last appeared at “The Ultimate Fighter 11” Finale in June, when he stopped Jamie Yager on second-round punches. Attonito wrestled collegiately at Hofstra University.

A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Natal has scored more than half (seven) of his 12 career wins by submission. He has won five of his past six bouts and knocked out “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 4 winner Travis Lutter under the Moosin MMA banner two months ago.

A pivotal middleweight showdown pairing former title contender Demian Maia with the surging Alan Belcher will headline UFC Fight Night 22, along with a rematch between “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 6 winner Mac Danzig and Matt Wiman. Other matches greenlit for the event include lightweight duels pitting American Top Team’s Cole Miller against “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 winner Ross Pearson and AMA Fight Club standout Jim Miller against fellow Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Gleison Tibau.
