6 Fights Official for UFC 123

In a matchup of skilled wrestlers, UFC lightweight stalwart Tyson Griffin will meet Nik Lentz at UFC 123 on Nov. 20 at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Mich.

Traditionally a standout in the division, Griffin is coming off two straight losses. He dropped a close split-decision loss to up-and-comer Evan Dunham at UFC 115 and then fell victim to a brutal knockout courtesy of former Pride Fighting Championships lightweight king Takanori Gomi at UFC Live 2 on Aug. 1.

Despite his recent skid, the Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts fighter still holds an overall record of 7-4 inside the Octagon. The veteran has claimed victories over Clay Guida, Thiago Tavares and Hermes Franca. Aside from his two recent defeats, Griffin has only lost to former UFC champion Sean Sherk and current champ Frankie Edgar. Five of Griffin's seven victories inside the Octagon have come by decision.

Lentz is 3-0-1 since signing with the UFC and most recently notched a grinding unanimous decision victory over "The Ultimate Fighter" Season 9 finalist Andre Winner at UFC 118. A former University of Minnesota wrestler, Lentz holds an overall record of 19-3. Training alongside Sherk and UFC heavyweight titleholder Brock Lesnar at Greg Nelson's Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, Lentz is undefeated in the last three years (9-0-2). Using a smothering wrestling attack, Lentz's four UFC fights have all gone the distance. Prior to getting called up to the UFC, Lentz started his career hot, winning six of his first seven fights.

A light heavyweight showdown between former champions Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida will headline UFC 123, along with the rubber match between UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes and former two-division titleholder B.J. Penn.
