Chris Weidman will defend the UFC middleweight title in

He dethroned the sport’s pound-for-pound king in decisive fashion, but Chris Weidman still has his detractors.
Weidman captured the Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight crown with a second-round knockout against Anderson Silva in the UFC 162 main event on July 6. The defeat snapped Silva’s historic reign in the 185-pound division and made the “All-American” the sixth middleweight champion in the 20-year history of the UFC.
Including his win over “The Spider,” the undefeated Weidman has pieced together a 6-0 record since arriving in the UFC in 2011. He will defend the middleweight title for the first time in a rematch with Silva in the UFC 168 headliner on Dec. 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Largely because of Silva’s antics during their first encounter -- spent as much time clowning and taunting as he did fighting -- some question the legitimacy of the result.
