Junior dos Santos apparently enjoys stoking the flames of his rivalry with Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight titleholder Cain Velasquez, as the two men head towards their UFC 166 rubber match on Oct. 19 in Houston.

In a June 19 interview with MSN Esportes, dos Santos claimed the champion “hits like a girl,” this despite the fact that Velasquez floored him with one punch and nearly finished him in the first round of their UFC 155 rematch in December. The overhand right sent the Brazilian careening to the canvas and permanently altered the trajectory of the bout. Velasquez swarmed with his trademark ground-and-pound, and though dos Santos survived, he went on to lose a one-sided unanimous decision: 50-45, 50-43 and 50-44. Velasquez was successful on 11 of his 33 takedown attempts, all while out-landing dos Santos 210-66 in total strikes and 111-57 in significant strikes.

Velasquez successfully defended the heavyweight crown at UFC 160 in May, as he needed less than 90 seconds to dismiss Antonio Silva. Dos Santos was victorious at the same event, as he wiped out Mark Hunt with a spinning hook kick in the co-main event, setting up his third showdown with Velasquez.
