Showtime Boxing Weigh-in Results: DeGale, Bute Make Super Middleweight Limit

Showtime Championship Boxing returns with a world title doubleheader Saturday night inside Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada. Headlined by the IBF super middleweight title fight between James DeGale and Lucian Bute, the entire event will go on as scheduled as all of the main card combatants weighed in on target on Friday afternoon.

DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs) has won 11 in a row since dropping a majority decision to George Groves four-plus years ago. He has since toppled several quality opponents and captured the IBF’s 168-pound crown in May when he edged American Andre Dirrell over 12 rounds in Boston. The London native will defend his title Saturday night against former super middleweight champ Bute in what could be one of the year’s most exciting battles.

Bute (32-2, 25 KOs), who lost the same title DeGale currently owns to Carl Froch three years ago, was the first to the scale. The Romanian-Canadian came in officially at 167.2 pounds, clearing the last hurdle on his quest to regain the title. Not to be outdone, DeGale tipped the scale at 167.4 pounds.

The co-main event features light heavyweights Isaac Chilemba and Eleider Alvarez locking horns in a WBC title eliminator over 12 rounds. Alvarez (18-0, 10 KOs) came in at 174.8 pounds while Chilemba (24-2-2, 10 KOs) weighed 173.4.

The televised portion of the card will air live on Showtime starting at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT.
