Pettis to be Honored by Milwaukee Mayor

Already honored by the sports world for an amazing performance at WEC’s swan song in December, Anthony Pettis can now add an accomplishment to his résumé that hits closer to home.

The WEC lightweight champion will be honored with an official proclamation by his hometown of Milwaukee on Jan. 13 at 3:45 p.m. CT by Mayor Tom Barrett. The 23-year-old will receive the tribute at City Hall.

“This is an amazing feeling,” stated Pettis in a press release. “It’s been a crazy year. I’ve won a world title, been featured on MTV and ‘SportsCenter’ and threw out the first pitch at the Milwaukee Brewers game. I never imagined myself being in this position. I’m really thankful that Mayor Tom Barrett and the city of Milwaukee have chosen to honor me. Milwaukee means so much to me and I’m proud to represent it every time I compete.”
