Eight Prospects to be Featured on July 14 Shobox Quadrupleheader

Showtime’s long-running boxing series ShoBox: The New Generation will once again head through tornado alley next month as the network will treat fight fans to another solid quadrupleheader. Undefeated super lightweights Keenan Smith and Ivan Baranchyk will collide in the scheduled eight-round main event.

Smith (11-0, 5 KOs) is a 2007 Junior Olympic national champion and 2008 Nation Golden Gloves champ. The Philadelphian has been impressive as a pro thus far and is coming off a seventh-round TKO win over Edgar Gabejan in April. He’s ready for what should be the hardest test of his career up to this point.

“This is a very big fight for me,” said the Smith. “Perhaps the biggest fight of my career. I’m stepping up in opposition and I’m ready for what’s to come. I know Baranchyk comes to fight, but I also know his weaknesses. I’m ready for his wild swings. I’m ready to be the main event in a nationally televised fight. Needless to say, a win will bring bigger and even better opportunities. I can’t wait.”

Baranchyk (15-0, 10 KOs) exploded onto the scene and scored nine consecutive knockouts at one point. However, two tough opponents in his last two bouts on ShoBox stretched the Russian to his limits, though he won both contests via unanimous decision. He believes that a new knockout streak will begin against Smith.

“I am very excited and thankful for the opportunity to come back to fight on ShoBox again,” said Baranchyk. “Smith is a tough fighter and a ShoBox alum himself, so I will enjoy knocking him out. I’m not going to downplay him; he is a good opponent. I’ll be alert and I’ll pay attention to what he brings on, but I’m battle-tested. He hasn’t faced anybody like me. I’ll gladly hand him his first loss and move a step closer in my pursuit of a world title.”

In the co-feature, Kenneth Sims Jr. (12-0, 4 KOs) will take on Rolando Chinea (14-1-1, 6 KOs) in an eight-round super lightweight encounter. Rounding out the card will be an eight rounder in the bantamweight division between Glenn Dezurn (9-0, 6 KOs) and Adam Lopez (16-1-1, 8 KOs) and Joshua Greer (13-1-1, 5 KOs) will oppose fellow super bantamweight Leroy Davila (5-1, 3 KOs) over eight rounds.

The action will be televised live on Showtime from inside Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla., on July 14 beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
