Champions Nattawut, Shevchenko Anchor Lion Fight 35 in March

Lion Fight, North America’s premier muay Thai promotion, revealed on Friday that its second event of 2017 is going to be a corker.

Reigning super welterweight champion “Smokin” Jo Nattawut will defend his throne against Kengsiam Nor Sripueng in what is expected to be a classic all-Thai brawl from start to finish in the Lion Fight 35 main event. Nattawut, who is also the Lion Fight middleweight champ, is coming off a dominant win over Hasan Toy to retain his super welterweight strap. Sripueng, meanwhile, has won multiple world titles in Europe and Asia under the Max Muay Thai banner.

The co-feature will see women’s lightweight champ Antonina Shevchenko taking on challenger Aleide Lawant. The sister of UFC star Valentina Shevchenko, the champ has already defended her crown twice; by dominating both Paola Cappucci and Ilona Wijmans. Lawant captured the Captains Tournament title while fighting in Europe for Enfusion and is set for her Lion Fight debut against one of the best.

Rounding out Lion Fight 35 will be Naurepol Fairtex taking on Amadeu Cristiano; Chip Moraza-Pollard opposing Scott Noble; and Jeri Sitzes versus Ruth Ashdown. Additional bouts for Lion Fight 35, which takes place at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., on March 3, will be announced in the coming days. AXS TV will televise the action beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
